Beyond Beginners Drawing – £40 

Have you dabbled in art and want to take your skills to a new level? Perhaps you have got stuck in an art rut and want to enliven your drawing by exploring new mediums. This course will take you through some of the core skills and include some new ways of exploring topics such as proportions, shape, tone, negative space, viewpoints and colour. Be introduced to different techniques and media and explore new ways of using line and mark-making.

Discover Art Beginners – £38

Have you always wanted to draw? Get started and learn the basic skills of drawing on this fun online course. This course will get you started with the key skills to tackle drawing such as determining shape, proportions, light and dark and spatial awareness. You will learn the basics of drawing one session at a time. Each session you will learn a new essential drawing skill and at the end of each session you will be given a project designed to build your drawing skills quickly and efficiently.

Art and Colour Lecture – £10

In this short lecture we will look at the many ways that artists and illustrators use colour. We will look at diverse examples from history as well as contemporary art. In this lecture you will gain an appreciation for colour in art and an understanding of how it can be used to create drama, harmony, mood, and emphasis. You will learn about colour theory and how colour combinations can create different moods and effects in artwork. We will also look at examples of duotone, warm, cool, and muted colour palettes and visit the colour wheel. The lecture will benefit you in terms of practical application if you create art yourself by giving you a better understanding of the application of colour and inspiration for more colour confidence!

Art, Composition and Viewpoint Lecture – £10

In this short lecture we will look at the way that composition and viewpoint alters the feel and mood of art. Composition will be explained through looking at examples from artwork that is both historical and contemporary. We will look at the role of balance, symmetry, leading lines and the rule of thirds and they will be explained through inspiring examples of artwork from a diverse range of artists and illustrators. The different types of viewpoints will be explored such as birds-eye and worms-eye and we will identify the impact of both. If you are an artist, the lecture will give you practical ideas to apply to your artwork to give it more interest and impact.

Draw & Paint Plants and Flowers – 8 Weeks – £110

This eight week evening course explores how to capture plants and flowers through drawing and painting. Each week will focus on an area of capturing plants and flowers visually, exploring different structure and shape, using different lines and marks to create texture and experiment with media such as pencil, ink pastel and watercolour. You will be encouraged to create your own spring/summer botanical sketchbook and to collect your own samples of plants and flowers to draw and paint.  By the end of the course you will have gained confidence with different materials and how to capture plants and flowers in different styles and techniques.

Come and enjoy a relaxing morning drawing seasonal plants and flowers exploring different media such as pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour and ink.  We we look at how to capture line, mark, texture, shape and structure in this session.  You will be encouraged to start a spring/summer botanical sketchpad and this session will give you more confidence to capture plants and flowers.
