Drawing Skills Mixed Ability- 10 Weeks

This course is dedicated to drawing and covers the key skills such as determining shape, proportion, tone and mark-making.  We will cover all the drawing media such as pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastel and inks and you will learn techniques in different media and be encouraged to experiment. Come along and learn from scratch or build on the skills you already have.

Drawing & Painting Beginners 1,2,3 – 10 Weeks

Develop your drawing and painting skills. Each week you will explore different media through the themes of tone, shape proportion, colour and mark making. You will develop your observational skills and increase your knowledge of materials and media, while exploring a variety of approaches to drawing and painting and building a portfolio of your work.

By the end of this course you will be able to: 
* select appropriate drawing and painting materials 
* use observational skills to improve drawing accuracy, shape and proportion 
* use a range of mark making techniques to capture texture, tone and form 
* mix colours to achieve tints, tones and shades (colour theory). 
* explore perspective 
* apply the rules of composition to create visual balance.

Photoshop – Improve Your Photos – 5 Weeks

Do you enjoy taking photos or have a collection of photos that you would like to improve or change? On this course you will learn how to improve your photographs using Photoshop Elements software. The course will cover cropping, colour changes, resizing, basic filters and repairing old photographs.

Portraiture for Beginners – 10 Weeks

During the course you will learn to observe and identify what you see and use these observational and practical skills to render the head in portrait.  You will work by observing a live model every week.

First Steps in Painting – 6 Weeks

This short course is intended to give you a comprehensive grounding in painting, covering fundamental principles such as colour, exploring palettes, mark-making and different mediums. You will work on class activities designed to tackle each skill area and at the end of the course you will work on your own painting project. A must for anyone who wants to develop their confidence with painting.

Improve Your Drawing – 6 Weeks

Explore your inner artist and develop your artistic skills with this course dedicated to basic drawing skills. You will learn techniques to help you accurately judge spacial relationships, explore tone and experiment with different media. After completing the course you should be able to draw with more confidence and have a knowledge of all the drawing media.

Experimental Drawing – 6 Weeks

This is an opportunity to explore and develop drawing skills, experiment with various materials and build confidence with mark making. The expectation is to have fun and enhance your response to the world around you. The course will include the production of a series of large drawings experimenting with charcoal, ink, paper, tape and ink. An exploration of both black and white work and colour work, ideal for those in a ‘drawing rut’ wanting to experiment with new methods.
